The Aerospace Product Line: Communications Systems
A variety of radio systems operate in manned aircraft at different wavelength bands for intercom, plane-to-plane, and air-to-ground voice communications. Transponders identify an aircraft to ground controllers.
For missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, wire-relayed communications (short range) and telemetry systems (long range) are used to send computer-generated commands.
Complex spacecraft communications systems accept information from sensors, translate the signals into usable data, and relay the data to Earth station for analysis and imagery development.
